I've worked remotely across contract and full-time roles for the bulk of my career. It's not an adjustment — it's just how I work. I structure my week deliberately, flag early, and keep the team in the loop without being asked. A silent failure is still a failure.

I learned the hard way what it costs when someone goes quiet at the wrong time. Now I treat communication the same way I treat system design — with intention and early investment. I'd rather over-communicate and look cautious than stay silent and watch something collapse slowly.

I'm not the engineer who disappears for a week and surfaces with a heroic fix. I deliver consistently on a daily basis, without drama. Maintaining a live production system while building new features on top of it teaches you to hold two things at once — move forward without breaking what already works.

AI-augmented development

AI as a primary tool —
not a talking point

For the past year, AI has been central to how I work — not a side experiment. It changes what I can ship and how fast I can validate an idea.

PoC to demo in hours, not sprints. At Africa's Pocket, I used Claude to produce a working prototype for a new platform feature and ran a full product team demo off it — before a line of production code was written. It collapsed a discovery cycle that would otherwise have taken weeks.

AI-first engineering workflow. Architecture brainstorming, edge-case analysis, code review, documentation — AI handles the cognitive overhead so I stay focused on what actually requires engineering judgment.

Building toward AI-native systems. Currently designing a recommendation engine at Vabu, researching vector database integration on Laravel and how MCP tooling fits into the architecture as Laravel moves in an AI-native direction.

Multitenant SaaS · 2024–Present

VabuOS

A full-featured SaaS operating system for the creative economy — ticketing, commerce, live streaming, VOD, and fan loyalty in one multitenant platform. Built from zero as Lead Architect at GetPayd Technologies, serving 2,000+ creative entities globally.

Engineered a PSP-style payment orchestration layer routing transactions across multiple providers, dynamically selecting based on client profile, currency, and active service. Shipped the 4K live streaming engine solo in 48 hours; scaled immediately to 100+ concurrent broadcasts with zero dropouts.

Investment Platform

Owned and rebuilt the full product and infrastructure for a regulated Kenyan investment platform. Redesigned the client experience from ground up — rethinking onboarding, UX flows, and trust signals for a high-stakes financial context.

Architected a financial unitisation engine automating interest allocations with 100% computational accuracy, backed by strict ACID PostgreSQL transaction management. Built high-concurrency infrastructure to sustain full uptime during peak allocation events.
